Digestive microbiomes of crustacean in extreme environments

or

Digestive bacteria and virus in crustacean

Digestive microbiomes are all the microorganisms (bacteria and viruses) in the organism’s digestive system. Pierre looks at the microbiomes of Crustacean (shrimps, crabs, billbug…) in different ecosystems, especially in the deep-sea environments. After that, he compares them with each other.

Pierre is trying to understand which bacteria are always associated with the digestive system. He is particularly interested in one family of bacteria. They have been found in shrimps from hydrothermal vents and in garden billbug.

Why this subject ?

Pierre is trying to understand how bacteria live in symbiosis with animals. How does the animal world live and interact with the microbial world? Pierre had started with crustacean. He found the hydrothermal shrimp interesting for studying those subjects. Then, he moved on to other crustaean because he found links with digestive bacteria.
